Precautions for Using a Tunnel Oven

2025-02-24
  • After all preparations are complete, place the test sample into the oven, then connect and turn on the power. The red indicator light will turn on, indicating that the oven is heating. Once the temperature reaches the set control temperature, the red light will turn off, and the green light will turn on, indicating that the oven has entered constant temperature mode. To prevent temperature control failure, the tunnel oven should be regularly checked.

  • When placing samples into the oven, ensure they are not arranged too densely. Do not place samples on the heat dissipation plate, as this will affect the upward flow of hot air. Do not bake flammable, explosive, volatile, or corrosive materials.

  • If it is necessary to observe the condition of the samples inside the chamber, you can open the external door and observe through the glass window. However, the door should be opened as little as possible to avoid affecting the constant temperature. Especially when working at temperatures above 200°C, opening the door may cause the glass to crack due to rapid cooling.

  • During the heating and constant temperature processes, the blower must be turned on, as this ensures even temperature distribution in the chamber and prevents damage to the heating elements.

  • High-temperature tunnel ovens should be placed in a dry, level area to prevent vibration and corrosion.

  • Pay attention to electrical safety. Install a power switch with adequate capacity based on the oven’s power consumption. Use appropriately sized power cables and ensure proper grounding.

  • For ovens with mercury thermometer-type temperature controllers, connect the two wires of the electric contact thermometer to the two terminals at the top of the oven. Insert a standard mercury thermometer into the exhaust valve (the thermometer in the exhaust valve is used for calibrating the electric contact mercury thermometer and observing the actual temperature inside the oven). Open the exhaust valve. After adjusting the mercury thermometer to the required temperature, tighten the screws on the steel cap to maintain constant temperature. Do not exceed the oven’s maximum rated temperature during use.

  • Under special safety conditions, no explosive materials, pressurized containers, or flammable substances should be placed inside the tunnel oven, as this could lead to explosions and cause serious industrial disasters.

  • Flammable materials include: flammable substances, oxidizers, and pyrophoric materials. Extra caution should be exercised when operating the tunnel oven.

  • When processing powders or materials that are prone to generating dust, the materials should be placed on a mesh tray to prevent highly combustible dust from entering the heating elements.

  • The exhaust pipe should be kept clear. If a filter is installed, it should be cleaned regularly.

  • During the heating process, open the vent to prevent the risk of an explosion.

  • When performing maintenance on the tunnel oven, ensure that the power is turned off. The main power supply must be disconnected before servicing.
